We believe in a smoother lunch at work experience!

Founder Story

As an Aussie, I experienced a major culture shock when I started working in Western Europe in 2015. Moving from Sydney, Australia to Essen, Germany was like transitioning into another life where the language, landscape and corporate atmosphere were totally different.

The daily ritual that resonated with me the most was the “lunch” culture. This part of the day was, and still is, a conventional routine where people from all departments get together and “break bread”. The main difference from what I’d ever experienced before was that the workplace restaurant provided catering! I was pleasantly surprised to experience how a convenient and delicious hot meal made me feel so much happier during my work day.

Although the freshly provided food was satisfying, I noticed that most catering companies used outdated and inefficient methods when communicating with end users. Most menu plans were printed on paper, neglecting to mention food ingredients, and the queues to get my lunch were time consuming. So, I set out to make this European tradition of catered lunches modern and smoother, while keeping the end user’s daily dose of lunchtime happiness Mahlzeit’s number one priority. #UserJourney
